18.cifr/2008.percom.pervasive-ad-targetingPervasive advertising applies pervasive computing technologies to deliver contextually relevant advertisements to users in physical spaces. This work describes a framework for context-aware ad matching in pervasive environments, using mobile user context signals such as location, time, and interests to rank and deliver relevant advertisements with minimal infrastructure.

The authors suggest extending the framework with privacy-preserving context sharing so users need not reveal sensitive location data to ad brokers. Learning user preference models over time via online learning to adapt weights automatically is an obvious next step. Evaluation on real-world pervasive deployments with actual mobility traces and click-through feedback was noted as future work.
