Tighter product-formula error bounds and higher-order Suzuki decompositions were natural follow-ups. Extension to open quantum systems, long-range interactions, and fermionic encodings remained open. Practical implementation on noisy intermediate-scale quantum devices with error mitigation was not addressed.
